- Check engine or transmission warning light on
- Gearbox stops shifting or stays in neutral
- Engine may not start because neutral cannot be confirmed
- Loose or corroded connector at the shift sensor or actuator unitчасто
- Damaged sensor wiring near the gearbox
- Faulty gear shift position sensor
- Faulty sensor input or reference supply in the transmission control module
Circuit A of the gear shift position sensor reports how far the shift mechanism of an automated manual gearbox has moved in the shift direction, i.e. whether a gear is engaged, in neutral or in between. This generic circuit code sets on an electrical fault on that signal that does not match the more specific variants. No manufacturer documents the code publicly. An Aisin AI patent pairs such a shift stroke sensor with a select stroke sensor, and a Nissan/Aichi patent places the shift position sensor as a magnet and field detector on the piston of a hydraulic shift actuator. CARB requires circuit checks on such inputs. P0915 to P0919 are the siblings, P091A and P095A the same signal on circuits B and C. Without it the module cannot confirm the engaged gear and usually blocks shifting.
